Title: DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF ROTATING ANTENNA PLATROFM
Part 1: INTRODUCTION
Antenna is a transducer that has the ability to transmit or receive electromagnetic signal. On the other hand, antenna can convert electromagnetic radiation into electrical current. Antenna usually used in systems such as for radio and television broadcasting, point-to-point radio communication, wireless LAN, cell phone, radar and spacecraft communication. Anechoic chamber is a place to assist the researcher who has to deal with spectrum analyzer in order to get the properties of the antenna.
The process of taking data manually to plot radiation pattern sometimes takes hours to be completed. Just imagine when the researcher has to deal with lots of data; it must be hard for them. This project was proposed in order to make research work easier.
Antenna rotation platform is a combination of few implementations on hardware and software development. Manual collection of data from spectrum analyzer could be difficult to the researcher and student because this process takes hours to be completed, and they have to use some suitable software in order to get the radiation pattern.
So the main objective of this project is to design and develop the rotating antenna platform which has the ability to rotate automatically, at the same time can collect data from spectrum analyzer and plot the radiation pattern using suitable software simultaneously. And by developing this system, it can store the signal obtained from simple microstrip antenna, reorganize it in the proper way and analyze it to plot the radiation pattern.
